Emerge: Sharing Our Voices, Supporting Our Choices.
Emerge is a discussion and support group for women who have had an abortion.  Women who participate in the group meet weekly to share and discuss their individual experiences in a safe, respectful and supportive environment with other women. We invite women to join the conversation, whether their abortion was 40 years ago or yesterday.

The group is open and welcoming to women 18 and older, regardless of race, religion, marital-status, economic circumstances, and sexual orientation and provides support that is respectful of religious and political diversity.

Abortion is one of the most commonly performed gynecological procedures in the US - one in every three women will have an abortion in their lives. Women of all ages, races, religions, sexual orientations, education and income levels have abortions. Women have abortions for a number of different reasons, and while many of the reasons are similar, each experience is unique.

Emerge is an alternative to politically motivated counseling agencies. Pro-Choice Resources & Tubman (formly known as the Chrysalis Center for Women) founded this group to empower and support each woman, regardless of her political, religious or philosophical perspective on abortion. Click here to read comments from previous Emerge participants.

Emerge is held once a week for six weeks from 6pm to 8pm at two locations: Tubman in South Minneapolis and the Rice Street Library in St. Paul. There is no cost to attend the group and childcare is available on a limit basis. If you would like to sign-up to participate in Emerge or would like information on childcare availability please contact Pro-Choice Resources at 612-825-2000 or pcr@birdsandbees.org.

The next Emerge session will be at Tubman and is going to start November 2, 2009. If you're interested in attending, please contact us at 612-825-2000 or pcr@birdsandbees.org.

This program is made possible with the support of the Otto Bremer Foundation.
