Statistics You Can Use in Your E-mails

bowl Start your e-mail with one of the stats below, tie in your personal relationship to PCR, and you'll be blowing the top off your fundraising thermometer in no time! (All statistics are from PCR's 2010 fiscal year.)

Stats from the Hersey Abortion Assistance Fund
Stats from Emerge, our after-abortion support group
Stats from the Birds & Bees Project, our sex education program

Statistics from our abortion assistance fund
In 1977, the Hyde Amendment eliminated Medicaid funding to pay for the costs of an abortion; Pro-Choice Resources responded by creating an abortion assistance fund to help low-income women with the costs of abortion.

$90,000 was pledged to help women and girls obtain the abortion care they sought.

97% of the women we serve live below federal poverty guidelines, but do not qualify for Medicaid.

34% of the women and girls we helped had health insurance, but their plans didn't cover abortion.

Statistics from our after-abortion support group
Women who participate in the group meet weekly to share and discuss their individual experiences in a safe, respectful and supportive environment with other women.

Several women from Wisconsin and out state Minnesota drove more than three hours one way to attend the weekly discussion and support group.

A former Emerge participant is now a group co-facilitator.

There is no program like it anywhere else in the country.

Statistics from our sexuality education program
PCR's multi-faceted sexuality education and outreach program teaches youth and other at-risk groups in the Twin Cities about contraceptives, sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy and reproductive options, including parenting, adoption and abortion.

Over the past year, we've trained over 600 current and future teachers how to teach high-quality, comprehensive sexuality education.

We launched the first and only program in the nation to train teachers and college students studying to become teachers on how to teach and talk about sexuality.

In an effort to expand sexual health education to be inclusive of gender diversity and to accurately teach gender identity and expression, we started collaborative training with Trans Youth Support Network, Annex Teen Clinic, Out4Good and Minnesota Organization on Adolescent Pregnancy, Prevention & Parenting.
