As we work to fulfill our mission and vision, these are the core values that guide us.
1. PCR believes that "pro-choice" is about supporting all pregnancy decisions: parenting, adoption and abortion.
2. PCR believes in serving, without judgment, all people, while understanding and respecting the full ranges of feelings and emotions that come with making reproductive health decisions.
3. PCR believes in the value of women and girls. We believe in and support a woman's autonomy to make decisions about her body, sexuality and reproduction. This includes the right to have and raise children, to not have children, and to access comprehensive reproductive health care, including birth control and abortion.
4. PCR believes that people must have the right and ability to make comprehensive reproductive health care decisions. We recognize that oppression can deprive people of self-determination and control over their bodies by limiting their reproductive choices.
5. PCR believes that comprehensive sex education is the most effective means of preventing unplanned pregnancies. In order to empower all people to make informed decisions regarding their reproductive health, they need access to research based, medically accurate sexual health education.
6. PCR believes that all people have the right to comprehensive reproductive health care. This includes access to medically accurate health education and access to health professionals trained to provide comprehensive care, including abortion. We believe that our resources are best directed at those who have the most barriers to access.
7. PCR believes that sexuality is natural and personal and that a healthy person understands the implications of sex, both physically and emotionally. PCR respects personal choices about sexuality and sexual orientation.
8. PCR believes that when working on issues of reproductive health and rights we must bring many voices to the table. These voices must include diverse opinions and experiences to make the largest impact and find common ground.
9. PCR believes that best practices for unintended pregnancy prevention must be developed by and within the community to ensure cultural relevance. PCR's role is to provide information and resources to our diverse communities.
